From June 23 to June 29, 2015, the Center for Girls organized the first Feminist Art Colony in Sićevo.
The aim of this project was to empower young artists, and encourage them to get familiar with feminist themes and include them in their work. The organizers wanted to make it possible for them to create together, get to know one another and connect, as well as to provide them a public space in which they could exhibit their art.
The right to participate in the Feminist Colony had female artists aged 18 to 30 from the territory of the Republic of Serbia.
The Feminist Colony was held in Sićevo, 16 km from Niš, a place where various art colonies take place every year. The Feminist Colony is the first colony bringing together young feminist artists, whose works render a feminist message. The Colony lasts 7 days, the first and last of which are held in Niš, and the rest in Sićevo.
A joint exhibition of the works created in the Feminist Colony was mounted in Art 55 Gallery in Niš, from July 16 to July 19, 2015, during the ArtFemine Festival. The Feminist Art Colony Project is supported by Reconstruction Women Fund within the programme supporting young women's activism called Ogledalo, and OAK Foundation.
