The Center for Girls was founded on April 15, 1998, on the initiative of two volunteers of SOS Helpline for Women and Children Victims of Violence. The aim of its foundation was to improve the social position of young women through their education and emancipation.
THE MISSION of the Center for Girls is to empower children, girls and women through support, education, activism and creativity.
STREET ACTION FOR THE GENDER EQUALITY LAW
In front of the Basic Court in Nis, a street action with banners was held on the occasion of the decision of the Constitutional Court to initiate the procedure of examining the constitutionality of the Gender Equality Law and to suspend its application while the procedure is ongoing.
SUPPORT PHONELINE FOR WOMEN WHO HAVE SURVIVED GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE
A phoneline has been launched to support women who have survived gender-based violence, within the Women Against Violence network, of which the Center for Girls is a part.
"WOMEN'S CEMETERY" PERFORMANCE AND FORUMS ABOUT FEMICIDE IN 5 CITIES IN THE SOUTH OF SERBIA
Over 3,700 citizens of Dimitrovgrad, Leskovac, Aleksinac, Nis and Pirot saw the performance of the Center for Girls "Women's Cemetery", which talks about femicide. Online, the performance was seen by 13,540 people.
