The Center for Girls was founded on April 15, 1998, on the initiative of two volunteers of SOS Helpline for Women and Children Victims of Violence. The aim of its foundation was to improve the social position of young women through their education and emancipation.
THE MISSION of the Center for Girls is to empower children, girls and women through support, education, activism and creativity.
The Center for Girls received support from the Swiss government and the Heartefact Fund for the implementation of the project "Improving Gender Equality through Engaged Art in Niš".
Towards the end of 2023, New Year's packages were distributed in the Children’s Daycare Center. The gathering took place in a festive atmosphere.
The Center for Girls successfully implemented the project "SAFE: Empowering girls and women to feel safer in public places in Nis", which was supported by UN Women. 64 workshops were held with 244 girls/women in 10 secondary schools, at 4 faculties and with one mixed group aged 24 to 30.
